Time is ticking for submissions for LWDW – OUR PUBLIC MEETING update

Following on from our public meeting last night (8th April) we have uploaded the presentation and letter to Council requesting an extension to the consultation period – these can be viewed here

To summarise:

  • We question whether we/you are actually in a position to make an informed assessment
  • We think more information is needed before adequate consideration of the options is possible
  • We still have questions that have not been fully answered
  • Community confidence in council decision-making is not high and neither is Council performance and we do not think this has been an effective, open or transparent consultation process
  • We have formally requested an extension to the deadline for public consultation (currently ending on the 13th April) which KCDC has the discretion to do.
Note: a response was received from the Mayor on the 7th April – she was happy with the consultation process and information available but advised she will pass on the request to the Chief Executive for his advice. As at 9th April we are awaiting further a response.
In Conclusion:
  • There are options for making a submission – you can use the Council online form/survey (not an option we recommend as it has limited scope for comments outside of pre-determined questions) or you can email your submission direct to haveyoursay@kapiticoast.govt.nz
  • If you are making your submission on the current 2 options and would like some guidance (for those who have not done this before) please see our suggestions on page 27 of the presentation.
  • If you would like to make a submission with further requests as outlined in our presentation please feel free to use our information
  • If you would like to support us in requesting an extension to the consultation period please email your request direct to Council or include it with your submission
